LeBron James Makes History, Breaks NBA Games Record As Lakers Top Magic

American basketball legend LeBron James has set a new National Basketball Association record for the most regular-season appearances, featuring in his 1,612th game as the Los Angeles Lakers edged the Orlando Magic 105-104 in a thrilling encounter on March 22.

According to Ireporter Online, the 41-year-old surpassed the long-standing record of 1,611 games previously held by Robert Parish since 1997, having equalled the milestone just days earlier in a victory over Miami.

The historic achievement unfolded in dramatic fashion, with Orlando leading 104-102 with only three seconds left on the clock before Luke Kennard delivered a decisive three-pointer with 0.6 seconds remaining to seal the win and extend the Lakers’ winning streak to nine games.

The victory propelled the Lakers to a 46-25 record, solidifying their hold on third place in the Western Conference standings. James contributed 12 points, six rebounds, and four assists in the contest.

Luka Dončić led the scoring for the Lakers with 33 points but picked up his 16th technical foul of the season, triggering an automatic suspension for the team’s upcoming clash against the Detroit Pistons, while Austin Reaves added 26 points.

Reflecting on the milestone, James described the moment as special, noting that his focus has always been on maintaining availability for his teammates throughout his career spanning over two decades.

Now in his 23rd NBA season, James continues to dominate the record books, also holding all-time league records for total points, field goals made and attempted, as well as the longest streak of games with at least 10 points. Including playoff appearances, he has featured in 1,904 games, ahead of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with 1,797, while Parish ranks third with 1,795.
