Senator Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole has built a career defined by tireless advocacy and a deep commitment to ordinary Nigerians.

His relentless energy — whether confronting power as a labour leader, delivering infrastructure as governor, or pushing for accountable governance in the Senate — continues to power a people-centered approach to public service.Oshiomhole’s journey began in the trenches of the labour movement.

As President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) from 1999 to 2007, he earned a reputation as a fearless “Comrade” who led nationwide strikes against fuel price hikes and fought for better wages and workers’ rights. His activism gave voice to the masses and demonstrated an unyielding drive to challenge policies that burdened everyday citizens.

He carried that same energy into governance. Elected Governor of Edo State in 2007 (and assuming office in 2008 after a legal battle), Oshiomhole served two terms until 2016. His administration focused on visible, people-oriented development: massive road construction across urban and rural areas, urban renewal projects, improved education outcomes (elevating Edo’s ranking in secondary school exams), healthcare initiatives, and efforts to demystify political godfatherism through “one man, one vote.”

He was often seen on inspection tours, insisting on quality delivery and insisting that governance must touch the lives of the people directly. As Senator representing Edo North since 2023, Oshiomhole has sustained this momentum. He chairs the Senate Committee on Interior and actively participates in oversight of security and infrastructure agencies.

In his first two years, he has delivered multiple skills acquisition and empowerment programmes benefiting nearly 1,000 constituents — targeting women, youths, farmers, and others — while pushing for infrastructure like road projects and classroom blocks.

His legislative work emphasizes accountability in budgeting and advocacy for issues affecting Edo State and the wider public. Two aspects particularly resonate with his “relentless energy”:
