APC: Peter Obi Looking For Smooth Ride To Presidency

According to Ireporter Online, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted strongly to the recent resignation of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), alleging that the opposition figure is in constant search of a party willing to hand him a free and uncontested presidential ticket.

The APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, made the remarks in a post on , following Obi’s announcement of his exit from the ADC. Obi, in his own statement shared via his handle on Sunday, said his decision was informed by what he described as a hostile and discouraging political environment, where internal disputes and legal battles have repeatedly hindered party cohesion.

The former presidential candidate clarified that his departure was not driven by personal grievances with political figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and David Mark, stressing instead that recurring internal crises within political platforms influenced his decision. He further likened his experience to earlier challenges faced within the Labour Party, reaffirming his position that leadership should be centred on service rather than domination.

Obi also dismissed claims that his political movements were motivated by personal ambition.

Reacting, Morka accused Obi of lacking commitment to party building, alleging that he frequently moves between political platforms without contributing to their development. He further described him as someone who “fantasizes” about becoming president without undergoing a competitive process, and claimed that Obi has moved through several political parties over time in search of what he termed an effortless path to power.

In his words, Morka said Obi “is never willing to remain to build any party” and continues “roaming again in search of a free, uncontested, unchallenged presidential ticket,” while listing his past political affiliations.
