APM Endorses Makinde As Its Preferred Presidential Candidate

According to Ireporter Online, the Osun State chapter of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has formally affirmed Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, as its preferred presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party also disclosed that it is intensifying efforts to woo members and structures of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into its ranks as part of broader preparations for upcoming electoral contests.

Makinde’s endorsement followed the conclusion of the party’s primary elections, during which candidates were selected for National Assembly and State Assembly seats across federal and state constituencies in Osun State.

The Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Adewale Adebayo, stated that Makinde was affirmed across all 332 wards in the state, describing the process as peaceful and reflective of unity, discipline, and collective resolve within the party.

Adebayo noted that the exercise demonstrated strong internal cohesion, adding that the consensus-driven outcome underscored confidence in credible leadership and a shared political vision. He further emphasized that true democratic strength, in some cases, lies in agreement built on trust and consultation rather than division.

He also confirmed that, following the conclusion of the primaries, Makinde had been officially adopted as the APM’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections after emerging as the sole aspirant.

According to him, the exercise was conducted smoothly across all wards in Osun State without any form of disruption. He added that reconciliation mechanisms had been activated to address grievances among members and strengthen party unity ahead of future polls.

The APM further stated that the move forms part of its strategic preparation for the 2026 Osun governorship election and the 2027 general elections, while also calling on PDP members and other Nigerians to join its platform to strengthen opposition politics and advance a renewed political agenda.
