According to Ireporter Online, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has constituted appeal panels to review petitions and complaints arising from its recently concluded primaries for presidential, governorship, National Assembly and state assembly elections.

The party stated that the initiative is aimed at strengthening transparency, fairness, and internal democracy within its candidate selection process ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed.

Mohammed explained that the panels were established to hear and consider appeals from aspirants and stakeholders who are dissatisfied with the outcomes of the primaries, adding that their recommendations would be guided by the party’s constitution, electoral guidelines, and relevant legal provisions.

According to him, the PDP National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, will head the governorship and presidential appeal panel, with Samuel Anyanwu serving as a member.

He also revealed that Suleiman Afolagbe will chair the state and National Assembly appeal panel.

The nine-member panel for state and National Assembly elections is scheduled to sit on June 8 and June 9 at the National Working Committee Hall of the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
