Troops Nab Five Suspected Armed Criminals In Taraba
Security operatives of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke, have arrested five suspected armed criminals during a security operation in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State following reports of an attack on local communities.
According to security sources, troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Karim Lamido swiftly responded after receiving a distress call about suspected criminal activities in the area. Upon arriving at the scene, the soldiers reportedly came under gunfire from unidentified assailants but responded with superior firepower, forcing the attackers to flee in different directions.
Military authorities disclosed that the troops immediately launched a pursuit operation, leading to the arrest of five individuals suspected to be linked to the attack. Security personnel also recovered two motorcycles, daggers, machetes, assorted charms, gunpowder, and five mobile phones during the operation.
The suspects and the recovered items have since been taken into custody as investigations continue to determine their involvement and uncover other possible accomplices.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to combat banditry, armed attacks, and other criminal activities across Taraba State and neighbouring communities.
Reacting to the successful operation, the Commander of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, praised the troops for their professionalism, bravery, and commitment to duty, describing their conduct as a reflection of the Nigerian Army’s resolve to safeguard lives and restore peace in troubled areas.
The brigade commander reaffirmed the directive of the Chief of Army Staff, stressing that troops must remain vigilant and sustain aggressive operations against criminal elements within their areas of responsibility. He emphasized that security personnel would continue to deny criminals freedom of movement while ensuring the protection of residents.
Akaliro also assured the people of Taraba State that the military would relentlessly pursue criminal elements wherever they operate until lasting peace and normalcy are fully restored. He further appealed to residents to support security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence capable of preventing attacks and enhancing ongoing security operations.
