Delta Workers Set To Receive 13th Month Salary Bonus

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has approved the payment of a 13th-month salary bonus for civil servants in Delta State, in a move aimed at boosting workers’ welfare and motivation in the state public service.

According to Ireporter Online, the announcement was made on Wednesday during a Dinner and Award Night held in Asaba as part of activities marking the 2026 Public Service Week celebration. The development was met with applause from civil servants and other attendees at the event.

The governor explained that the initiative is intended to recognise the dedication, commitment, and contributions of workers who have played key roles in the growth and development of Delta State through effective service delivery. He further noted that the bonus is expected to enhance morale and encourage greater productivity within the public sector.

With the approval, Oborevwori becomes the first governor in Delta State to introduce a 13th-month salary bonus for civil servants, marking a significant milestone in the state’s labour welfare policy.

The 2026 Public Service Week celebration was organised to honour public servants and highlight their role in implementing government programmes and delivering essential services to residents across the state.

Meanwhile, in other developments at the national level, the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has disclosed that the Federal Government is considering a review of workers’ salaries. He noted that the ₦70,000 minimum wage approved in 2024 is increasingly out of step with current economic realities in the country.
