TINUBU UNLEASHES 2027 CAMPAIGN MACHINE: YARI TAKES COMMAND, UZODIMMA GETS KEY ROLE, OSHIOMHOLE TO LEAD MOBILISATION
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally activated the All Progressives Congress campaign machinery for the 2027 presidential election, assembling some of the party’s most experienced political strategists, governors and grassroots mobilisers into a powerful Presidential Campaign Council.
Under the newly constituted council, President Tinubu will serve as chairman, while Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda will serve as vice chairmen.
Former Zamfara State governor and serving senator, Abdulaziz Yari, has been appointed director-general of the campaign, placing him at the centre of the APC’s battle for another presidential victory.
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma will serve as secretary, supported by APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Bashiru and Hadiza Bala-Usman as deputy and assistant secretaries.
In another major appointment, former Edo State governor Senator Adams Oshiomhole has been handed responsibility for nationwide mobilisation as deputy director-general. The assignment places the former labour leader and APC national chairman in charge of energising the party’s grassroots structures and rallying voters across the country.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Tajudeen Abass and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni will coordinate campaign operations in the South and North alongside Senators Opeyemi Bamidele and Jibrin Barau.
President Tinubu will also be supported by a high-powered advisory body comprising APC elder statesmen Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.
James Abiodun Faleke, a central figure in the 2022–2023 presidential campaign, returns as deputy director-general for election planning, coordination and monitoring. He will work with zonal directors spread across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
The media battle will be coordinated by Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.
Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka will serve as coordinating deputy directors, while Segun Dada returns as director of new media. Solomon Arowolo will serve as secretary of the new media directorate.
Dele Alake will lead the campaign’s five-member team of official spokespersons, which also includes Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.
The legal directorate will be led by Muiz Adeyemi Banire, supported by Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala. Attorney-General of the Federation Lateef Fagbemi, former Katsina governor Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Udeh are also members.
President Tinubu charged the council to move beyond the official list, recruit more party members and take the administration’s achievements directly to Nigerians.
According to the President, Nigeria is emerging from its economic difficulties and approaching a period in which citizens will begin to experience the benefits of his administration’s reforms.
“As we march into the campaign season, we have many achievements to trumpet—let us confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation.”
With Yari directing operations, Uzodimma coordinating the council, Oshiomhole driving mobilisation and some of the APC’s most formidable figures assigned to strategic positions, the ruling party has sent its clearest signal yet:
The battle for 2027 has officially begun—and Tinubu is not assembling a campaign team merely to participate. He is assembling a political army to win.
