According to Ireporter Online, the tragic incident has sparked concern within the Nigerian community in South Africa, with calls mounting for a thorough investigation into the killing.

The National President of the Nigerian Citizens Association South Africa (NICASA), Rev. Frank Onyekwelu, disclosed that the cleric was attacked by two unidentified suspects who allegedly gained access to his residence before opening fire.

NICASA described the killing as a shocking and senseless act of violence that has left the victim’s family and members of the Nigerian community devastated.

The association has reportedly notified the Consulate General of Nigeria in Johannesburg about the incident, while a murder case has been opened at the Jeppe Police Station.

According to reports, NICASA has called on the South African Police Service and Nigerian diplomatic authorities to ensure a comprehensive investigation is carried out and those responsible for the killing are identified and brought to justice.

“This was not merely an ordinary loss of life; it was a horrific and senseless act of violence that has robbed a family of a loved one and the Nigerian community of another precious life,” Onyekwelu said.
