Why Reverse Tinubu’s Policies?” – Onanuga Tackles Atiku, Peter Obi
Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has defended the policies of the current administration while questioning the presidential ambitions of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 election.
According to Ireporter Online, Onanuga made the remarks on Monday in a post on his X account while reacting to comments by billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote praising some of the economic policies of the Tinubu administration.
Dangote had commended the President for taking what he described as bold decisions, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the reform of the foreign exchange market, while also acknowledging the administration’s support for his refinery.
Reacting to the businessman’s comments during the formal launch of the Initial Public Offering for shares in Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, Onanuga urged politicians not to campaign for the reversal of the administration’s policies.
He specifically referenced Atiku and Obi, who are both associated with opposition efforts ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
“Atiku and Peter Obi, who badly want President Tinubu’s job, should listen to the encomium Aliko Dangote has showered on Tinubu and his policies,” Onanuga said.
“It doesn’t make any sense for any politician to advocate a reversal of the policies that are making Nigeria great,” he added.
Onanuga maintained that the administration’s economic programmes were yielding positive results and argued that politicians seeking to succeed Tinubu should consider the potential consequences of reversing them.
His comments come amid growing political activity and realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with opposition figures and groups intensifying preparations to challenge the ruling administration.
