Nigerians Are Proud Of Your Work” – NIS Boss Hails EFCC’s Anti-Corruption Fight

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Zone A, has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its sustained efforts in tackling corruption and financial crimes, saying Nigerians are proud of the Commission’s achievements.

According to Ireporter Online, the Zonal Coordinator of NIS Zone A, ACG Mohammed Adamu, made the remarks when he received the Acting Director of the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE I Adebayo Adeniyi, who led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the NIS Zonal Headquarters in Lagos.

Adamu said the EFCC’s continued fight against corruption and financial crimes had contributed to improving Nigeria’s image both locally and internationally.

He described the EFCC as one of the country’s most prestigious and hardworking agencies, noting that its successful prosecutions and convictions had helped to deter individuals from engaging in financial crimes.

Adamu further expressed the NIS’s readiness to deepen its partnership with the EFCC, particularly through intelligence sharing and other collaborative efforts aimed at combating economic and financial crimes.

He also called for training opportunities for NIS personnel, saying regular capacity-building programmes would improve the effectiveness, professionalism and efficiency of officers in carrying out their responsibilities.

“I am highly delighted to receive you and your entourage from the EFCC, one of the most prestigious and hardworking agencies in Nigeria. Thank you for a job well done. The EFCC has recorded significant achievements and secured convictions. These convictions serve as a deterrent to potential offenders, and Nigerians are proud of your work,” Adamu said.

He added that he would brief the NIS headquarters on the visit and the strong working relationship between both agencies.

Speaking during the visit, Adeniyi appreciated the NIS for its continued cooperation with the EFCC and called for stronger collaboration between the two organisations in tackling economic and financial crimes.

He said the EFCC valued the relationship that had existed between the agencies over the years and was committed to maintaining it.

Adeniyi also urged the NIS to communicate any concerns relating to the EFCC’s operations, assuring that the Commission remained committed to addressing such matters in accordance with due process.

He expressed optimism that both agencies would continue to work together to strengthen the fight against economic and financial crimes in Nigeria.
