President Tinubu Applauds Inauguration Of Nigeria’s Largest Lithium Processing Plant In Nasarawa

Tinubu welcomed the Chinese firms’ investment in the lithium processing plant and their commitment to further investments in the region.

Avatar New Energy Materials Company Limited, a Chinese firm, constructed the plant, which has a daily production capacity of approximately 4,000 metric tonnes. Additionally, Canmax Technologies, another renowned Chinese company responsible for over 30% of global battery material production, announced a new investment of $200 million for another lithium processing plant in Nasarawa State.

Tinubu emphasized the potential for Nigeria to become a significant market for solar panels and batteries, urging the Chinese firms to prioritize environmental protection, community engagement, and corporate social responsibility in their operations.

Governor Sule expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his unwavering support for solid mineral development in Nigeria and acknowledged the significant potential for lithium mining in the region.

Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, highlighted proactive measures taken to address risks posed by abandoned mines across the country and emphasized the importance of enhancing local value across the entire mining value chain.
