2-Year-Old Boy Rescued From Kidnappers In Kaduna After Abduction

Troops have rescued a two-year-old boy who was abducted alongside his mother by suspected kidnappers in Ungwan Nungu Village, Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to security sources, the rescue operation was carried out at about 4:00 p.m. on September 16, 2026, following intelligence on the movement of the suspected kidnappers and their victims.

The troops subsequently launched a search operation around Tayu High Grounds in Tayu Village and adjoining areas of Sanga Local Government Area in an effort to locate the abducted mother and child.

During the operation, the troops reportedly encountered the suspected kidnappers, resulting in an exchange of gunfire.

The suspects later abandoned one of the victims, identified as two-year-old Jafaru Baba, before fleeing into the surrounding bush.

The troops recovered the child and subsequently handed him over to his father.

Security sources disclosed that the troops expended 17 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition during the encounter.

Efforts are currently ongoing to locate and rescue the boy’s mother, while security personnel are also working to apprehend the suspected kidnappers.

Search operations have been intensified across the surrounding terrain as security forces continue efforts to prevent the fleeing suspects from escaping and to secure the area.
