300 NNPCL Trucks Arrive Dangote Refinery Ahead Of Petrol Loading
At least 300 trucks from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) are currently stationed at the Dangote Refinery in preparation for the scheduled petrol loading on Sunday.
NNPC spokesperson Olufemi Soneye confirmed this in a video shared on his X handle on Saturday. He stated that as of Saturday afternoon, over 100 trucks had already been deployed, with hundreds more en route to the refinery.
This follows an earlier announcement by the Presidential Committee on the Sale of Crude Oil and Refined Products that the first batch of petrol from the Dangote Refinery would be loaded starting Sunday, September 15.
Zacch Adedeji, Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and a member of the committee, disclosed on Friday in Abuja that from October 1, the NNPCL would begin supplying around 385,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil to the Dangote Refinery, with payment to be made in Naira.
Adedeji explained, “All agreements have been finalized, and the first batch of PMS from the Dangote Refinery will be loaded on Sunday, September 15.”
In return, the refinery will supply petrol (PMS) and diesel of equivalent value to the domestic market, also to be paid for in Naira. The refinery will sell diesel to any interested off-takers in Naira, while petrol will be sold exclusively to NNPC, which will then distribute it to various marketers. All regulatory costs associated with the transactions will also be paid in Naira.
This agreement is expected to alleviate the severe fuel shortage across the country and potentially reduce petrol prices, which have spiked in recent months.
