Abia: Doris Ogala Clinches AAC Governorship Ticket
Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) for the 2027 governorship election in Abia State following the party’s primary election.
According to reports, Ogala secured the party’s nomination after winning the primary contest, earning the right to represent the AAC in the race for the state’s highest political office. Her victory was greeted with excitement among supporters, with videos circulating online showing the actress celebrating alongside party members and loyalists shortly after the announcement of the results.
Her emergence comes after months of internal debates and disagreements within the party surrounding her governorship ambition. Despite facing opposition from some quarters, Ogala successfully secured the nomination and is now positioned to lead the party into the highly anticipated election.
With the ticket secured, she is expected to challenge the incumbent governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, who is anticipated to seek another term under the platform of the Labour Party.
At the national level, the AAC is also expected to field Omoyele Sowore as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election, setting the stage for a contest that could feature major political figures, including Bola Tinubu.
Beyond politics, Ogala has remained a prominent figure in public discourse in recent months due to issues relating to her personal life. Earlier this year, she was involved in a public disagreement with a Nigerian cleric over allegations connected to a failed marriage arrangement and other related matters.
