Otti expressed dismay over the prolonged non-payment of pensions under previous administrations, highlighting the emotional toll it took on retirees who dedicated their productive years to serving the state.
In his Easter message to the people of Abia, Otti emphasized that pension disbursement should not be a cause for celebration but acknowledged the relief it brings to retirees who were owed for an extended period.
He assured citizens that his administration had prioritized the timely payment of pensions, mandating that retirees receive their full entitlements by the 28th of every month, aligning with the salary schedule for civil servants.
Furthermore, Otti outlined a policy where political office holders would only receive their salaries after fulfilling the state’s obligations to pensioners and civil servants.
Expressing gratitude to the Nigerian Union of Pensioners for their trust in his leadership, Otti reiterated his commitment to the welfare of Abia residents, highlighting the state’s transformation into one of the safest in the country.
He encouraged both natives and visitors to explore investment opportunities in Abia without fear, assuring them of a conducive environment for growth and development.
As Easter celebrations unfold, Otti extended his felicitations to the people of Abia and Christians worldwide, reaffirming his administration’s dedication to comprehensive development across all parts of the state.
