According to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP Nguroje, the apprehended individual, identified as Muhammad Abubakar, also known as Malam Sabo, has a notorious reputation as a habitual scammer, specializing in defrauding individuals through deceptive tactics.
Nguroje disclosed that Abubakar’s modus operandi involved assuming the guise of a ghost, using various voices to communicate with his victims. The suspect would cleverly alter his voice, sometimes mimicking that of a woman or child, to effectively deceive and swindle unsuspecting individuals.
In one recent incident, Abubakar succeeded in duping a man named Abba Bale from Demsawo, extracting a substantial sum of three hundred thousand naira (N300,000) from his victim through his deceptive tactics.
The arrest of Abubakar underscores the diligent efforts of the Adamawa State Police Command in combating criminal activities within the state. SP Nguroje emphasized that the case is currently under investigation, and the suspect will face legal prosecution for his fraudulent activities at the earliest opportunity.
This development serves as a reminder to the public to remain vigilant and cautious, especially when dealing with unfamiliar individuals or situations. It highlights the importance of exercising skepticism and discernment to avoid falling victim to fraudulent schemes orchestrated by unscrupulous individuals like Abubakar.
The Adamawa State Police Command reassures the public of its unwavering commitment to upholding law and order, and urges citizens to report any suspicious activities promptly. Through collaborative efforts and vigilance, the community can work together to combat crime and safeguard against exploitation and deception.
