AFCON 2023 final: Ivory Coast’s Haller Feels Pressure Against Super Eagles Defenders
Sebastien Haller, the striker for Cote d’Ivoire, has acknowledged feeling the pressure as he prepares to confront the Super Eagles’ defenders in the final match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, scheduled for Sunday night….CONTINUE READING
Haller, credited with scoring the decisive goal in Ivory Coast’s AFCON semi-final victory over DR Congo, made this admission during his pre-match press conference leading up to the final encounter.
Having missed the previous encounter against Nigeria in the Group A stage due to injury, the 29-year-old Borussia Dortmund star is determined to make an impact in the upcoming final.
When questioned about his sentiments regarding the Nigerian defensive line, Haller conveyed to reporters: “We are familiar with the style of play adopted by the Nigerians. It will undoubtedly be a physically demanding match. Our objective is to pose challenges and exploit their vulnerabilities.
“Despite the similarities in physique between myself and the defenders, we are committed to delivering an outstanding performance tomorrow. Naturally, I do feel the pressure, being a striker, tasked with the responsibility of scoring goals. This pressure is a collective responsibility that we all must shoulder. Strikers thrive under such circumstances.”
