Johan Djourou, a former Arsenal defender, is putting his faith in the Brighton & Hove winger to shine brightest at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.
Despite a prior loss to Nigeria during the group stage, where the Super Eagles secured a narrow 1-0 victory, Djourou, with his roots in Abidjan, stands firmly behind the Elephants.
Having shared the pitch with Adingra at Danish club FC Nordsjaelland, Djourou is well acquainted with the winger’s capabilities.
Adingra’s absence at the commencement of the tournament due to a hamstring injury was felt, but upon his return to fitness, he played a pivotal role in Ivory Coast’s triumph over Mali in the quarterfinals.
Djourou envisions Adingra as a player destined for greater heights, likening him to talents fit for top Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Manchester City.
Describing Adingra as a determined learner with immense potential, Djourou believes the winger’s talent knows no bounds, expressing confidence in his ability to deliver, provided his fitness holds up.
While acknowledging the challenges posed by Adingra’s injury history, Djourou remains optimistic about his impact, expressing hope that the winger’s fitness will allow him to shine brightly in the AFCON final.
