Aftermath Of APC Primaries: Labour Party Members Call For Delegates To Apply Wisdom In Electing Its Gubernatorial Candidate
In the aftermath of the recently concluded APC primaries, which saw the emergence of Rt Hon Dennis Idahosa as the party’s gubernatorial candidate, members of the Labour Party in Edo State are calling for a judicious approach in selecting their own candidate for the upcoming election. While acknowledging the strategic considerations behind the APC’s choice, Labour Party members are emphasizing the need for wisdom and discernment in their own candidate selection process.
Across the state’s three geopolitical zones, voices are rising in support of a candidate selection process that prioritizes merit, capability, and integrity over narrow tribal sentiments or regional agendas. Respondents from Edo North, Edo Central, and Edo South have echoed this sentiment, underscoring the importance of choosing a candidate with the vision and capacity to lead the state forward, irrespective of ethnic or geographical affiliations.
One respondent from Edo North, Mr. Ahmed Abdullahi, emphasized the need for the Labour Party to rise above tribal considerations and focus on selecting a candidate who can effectively address the pressing issues facing the state. “We need a leader who can unite us all and drive development across the entire state,” he remarked.
Similarly, Mrs. Chioma Okoye from Edo Central stressed the importance of integrity and competence in governance. “Our state deserves a leader who is not only honest and principled but also capable of delivering tangible results for the people,” she stated.
From Edo South, Mr. Osaro Idemudia echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the need for the Labour Party to present a candidate who can inspire confidence and trust among voters. “We need a leader who can bring about positive change and restore faith in our political system,” he asserted.
As we closely observe with undivided attention, the focus turns to the Labour Party this upcoming Thursday. We will keep you updated on the unfolding process, but it is clear that the LP must deploy every resource at its disposal to secure victory in the gubernatorial race for the governorship seat. Strategic planning is imperative, as the party’s momentum relies on a promising candidate with the capability to overcome the challenges posed by the PDP and other parties in the September election.
