Amnesty International Criticizes Bail Conditions For #EndBadGovernance Protesters
Amnesty International has condemned the stringent bail conditions imposed on the ten #EndBadGovernance protesters facing treason charges.
The Federal High Court in Abuja set bail at N10 million each, requiring sureties to be property owners in Abuja and to submit property documents to the court. Isa Sanusi, Director of Amnesty International Nigeria, criticized these conditions as a means of weaponizing the legal system against activists and called for an end to the arbitrary detention of peaceful protesters.
He emphasized the need for the Nigerian authorities to respect international human rights obligations and facilitate peaceful assembly.
