APC Claims Fubara Plots To Obtain Court Order Declaring Rivers Assembly Illegal

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has alleged that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is orchestrating a scheme to obtain a court order invalidating the current State House of Assembly. According to Okocha, Governor Fubara’s alleged plan also includes nullifying all laws vetoed by the Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule-led House, which are against the interests of the governor. He further claimed that Fubara intends to use the interim order as a basis for appointing caretaker committees to oversee the 23 local government areas in the state.

Okocha expressed the party’s strong opposition to such actions, labeling them as negative and undermining the integrity of Rivers State. He also asserted their determination to resist any attempts by the governor to implement such plans.

However, in response to the allegations, the Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Warisenibo Joe Johnson, dismissed them as baseless. He attributed the accusations to the APC’s anxiety over the governor’s widespread support among the state’s populace, particularly demonstrated by the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) on Wednesday, which caused unrest among the APC factional acting Party chairman.
