APC Congress: Saliu Mustapha Takes Centre Stage As Doing It Differently Becomes A Masses Movement
A campaign slogan is a short, memorable phrase used in politics and advertising.
Over time in different political climes across the universe campaign slogans have turned masses hit and even changed the way citizens look at the aspirants, great political slogans are hard to come by.
One of the hallmarks of a great political slogan is humour, motivation and excitement, amazing nations like America used political slogans as far back as the country’s history, political slogans are used to motivate and convey mood or opinion.
Recall the then famous Barrack Obama’s “Yes We Can? Or Franklin Roosevelt’s “Happy Days Are Here Again”.
Today the All Progressives Congress, APC is set for its national congress to elect a new leadership of the party. February 26th was finally fixed for the D-Day after a series of protracted postponements spanning over a year.
The race to be candid has been very intriguing recently because of the peculiarities and intrigues associated with the congress. No fewer than 11 aspirants are scrambling for the top seat with at least 6 ex-governors, a serving minister, a serving senator and other political officeholders.
Amidst the fun and fanfare, one aspirant has distinguished himself with his political slogan centred around his ideologies for the party, DOING IT DIFFERENTLY, the political slogan of Mallam Saliu Mustapha is now like the theme of the APC congress. The slogan is now a peoples’ movement with members across the Federation calling for a progressive change in the way the affairs of the party is administered.
Doing It Differently represents the blueprint of the Turaki of Ilorin who incidentally seems to be the rave of the moment in the APC.
According to the chairmanship hopeful,” We can’t change anything until we begin to do things differently”
Youth groups, women wings and various other associations within the party have taken the slogan up as their mantra, stakeholders of the APC are of the view that Saliu Mustapha represents the next face of the APC and should be encouraged and supported towards achieving this laudable feat.
Already his ideas such as branding of the party, digitization, party organization, diplomacy in crises management and others are quite impressive with party stalwarts hailing its clarity.
“Doing It Differently is the right way to go? The young man has articulately presented his scorecard to us as party members and we are excited and overwhelmed with his presentations, he is a man of honour whose loyalty has never wavered, his support to the party is well acknowledged and we pray that God would give him the grace to become the next national chairman of our party the APC” APC lawmaker from Kano who craved for anonymity stated.
“Look at the other aspirants and tell me what their names are associated with? Is it not obvious that Saliu Mustapha is the most prepared for this job? If I start calling names they would I say have started again but if you check who amongst them is as prepared as Saliu Mustapha, who amongst them? His ideas, his creativity and his antecedents are clear even to the blind, many of them out there can’t even express their visions in a single phrase” Another APC chieftain from Katsina who also craved anonymity was quoted as saying.
In a video clip trending recently some APC women were quoted saying they wanted things done differently in the party. Saliu Mustapha’s phenomenon is currently making the forthcoming APC congress full of thrills and excitement.
Would the nation wake up on February 26th to see things been done differently in the APC?
Fact Check: Most of the time, when people are faced with a tough decision, they tend to lean towards the most popular opinion. In politics, parties will focus on creating catchphrases about their party or policies to sway voters.
