Ganduje assumed the role of APC chairman on August 3, 2023, during the 12th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party held in Abuja. His ascension followed the contentious resignation of the former party chair, Abdullahi Adamu, along with several other NEC members of the party.

Similarly, Nyesom Wike, though belonging to a different political party, is perceived to be aligned with Tinubu. Despite his affiliation with the PDP, Wike openly acknowledged that he worked against PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the February 25, 2023 election. He also admitted to supporting the success of Tinubu, the then-presidential candidate for the APC, in Rivers State.

At the time of this report, Wike is the sole opposition member among Tinubu’s 45 ministerial nominees to have been confirmed by the Senate.

Recognized as a former governor of Rivers and a prominent member of the G5 coalition, Wike has been observed collaborating with both current and former governors affiliated with the ruling parties. The G5 coalition consisted of five PDP governors before the 2023 elections, advocating for the return of power to Southern Nigeria, ultimately influencing the choice against Atiku.
