ATBU Moves To Tighten Control On Religious Activities
According to Ireporter Online, the management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has restated its commitment to preserving peace, unity, and stability within the institution, warning that it would not condone any form of religious intolerance or actions capable of disrupting harmony on campus.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Ibrahim Garba, issued the warning yesterday while inaugurating an implementation committee mandated to provide guidance on the regulation of religious activities across the university’s two campuses. The move follows recommendations put forward by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the Council Chamber of the Gubi Permanent Campus, Professor Garba explained that the committee was carefully selected after broad consultations. He noted that the body is expected to develop practical strategies for implementing the DSS recommendations aimed at ensuring order and peaceful coexistence within the university community.
