Battle For 2023: How Sanwo Olu’s Achievement Would Secure Lagos Squarely For Tinubu

If Nigeria is predicted to be excellent in terms of infrastructure and leadership development, Lagos State would be the model for any such comparison. It connects the country’s current and future developmental STATE.

Getting it right in Lagos goes a long way to getting it right with the country, as the commercial nerve capital of West Africa, Lagos would continue to maintain and play the leadership role it has deservedly carved out for itself.

The executive governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo Olu, appears to be aware of the work ahead and is willing to go to any length to ensure that Lagos produces the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, complementing its standing as Africa’s fifth largest economy. Lagos producing a Lagosian as president would undoubtedly propel Lagos to become the world’s next marvel.

The next problem Nigeria must overcome is how to transition from its current state of economic stagnation to full vibrancy, In all honesty, the country’s economy has not progressed in relation to population increase.

In accordance with the laws of human justice, a nation’s intellect, ability, and resources—both human and financial—should all grow proportionately as its population does.

Obstacles, economic deprivation, insecurity, and other societal ills should be normal challenges in the life of a nation, just as humans face their own challenges on a daily basis, but the ability to confront the challenges and still thrive is what distinguishes Lagos from every other state in the country.

To support the aforementioned thesis, let’s make a straightforward comparison: why is the Lagos state economy expanding daily despite claims that the nation is experiencing an economic crisis?

Lagos State can be deemed to be successful now among all other states in the federation because it has followed the master plan given forth by the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in 1999. Prior to that, states were administered by the military establishment with no long-term goals.

A close examination of Sanwo Olu’s leadership over the past three years reveals that the Lagos State Governor has not departed from the Eko blueprint, and that the state has done quite well for itself in terms of traffic management and transportation. Sanwo Olu’s administration has built at least 14 new BRT terminals, provided more than 560 high and medium capacity buses, and employed many Lagosians via the LBSL operations.

Sanwo Olu’s contribution to the rail industry entails the delivery of 10-car city metro speed trains for the 37 kilometer Lagos Red Line project, for which the government has already paid out compensation to over 263 households.

Sanwo Olu is unquestionably in line with the Lagos State master plan, with 4 new mega bus terminals and more than 100 bus shelters and depots completed in the last three years. Over 700 employment have been created by the bus operations in Lagos.

His water transportation initiative is also spectacular, with over 21 boats deployed on various routes and the development of over 15 gigantic jetties, Lagos State is undoubtedly on the rise.

Look at his track record in the health sector: 7 maternal and child care centers have been delivered, over 5 public health care facilities have been renovated to world-class standards, and over 500,000 Lagosians have been covered by the Health Insurance Scheme, with over 10 Triange and Oxygen centers built.

The Lagos State government is currently constructing a new 150-bed Massey Children’s Hospital, a mental health center in Ketu-Ejirin, an infectious disease research institution in Yaba, a 300-bed isolation center in Yaba, and a general hospital in Ojo Local Government.

The education system has also continued to develop in quality, making its public schools worthy of commendation today.

When it comes to the environment, Sanwo-Olu has demonstrated that the masterplan is worthwhile for the State’s overall growth by providing over 100 compactor trucks and establishing new recreational parks.

With so many roads built and rebuilt, his road infrastructure has been remarkable. Lagos State is performing well in terms of food security, with the largest rice mill in Africa nearing completion.

Sanwo Olu has delivered 7000 housing units through 17 various housing schemes, and the state is still setting the pace in the entertainment sector, with a one billion naira support  to the entertainment industry , the state will continue to be first in terms of entertainment.

Construction on a 100-hectare film city and the John Randle Center for Yoruba Culture is currently underway at Onikan.
Lagos would keep succeeding in spite of all the odds. Numerous youth development initiatives in the film and entertainment industries will only result in the creation of more superstars from the epicenter of excellence.

With over 200 police vehicles, 200 patrol bikes, two anti-riot cannon vehicles, two armored personnel carriers, and thousands of security gadgets provided in the last three years, what more can a state do to strengthen security?

The Sanwo-Olu administration has also been recognized with finishing a number of projects worth billions of dollars that he inherited from his predecessor, Akinwumi Ambode, in addition to other continuing projects throughout the State.

Among other Nigerian states, the state has had extraordinary consistent growth in all aspects. From medical to tourism to entertainment to sports, Lagos continues to lead, and this is why. Tinubu’s leadership has had an impact on continuity, which has resulted in most initiatives launched since 1999 seeing the light of day.

The law of continuity plays a pivotal role here, as a result, states like Cross Rivers, which got off to a good start with Donald Duke, cannot be compared to Lagos, which had Tinubu in the same class of governors in 1999.

Because of a lack of continuity in implementing progressive objectives, most of the lofty initiatives executed by previous governments in these states have gone to decay, such as the famous Tinapa and co.

Without a question, Lagos State will continue to serve as a model for a new and successful Nigeria beyond 2023. Lagos State has its own tale to tell and has excelled due to its drive for greatness.

Sanwo-Olu’s Lagos, with its glitz and glam, exemplifies what Nigerians desire in terms of rapid development and growth. Have you come upon the Eko Atlantic? That could be considered the new Dubai in West Africa, with the United States of America constructing its largest mission house outside of the United States in Eko Atlantic.

According to INEC, Lagos had the most registered voters of any state in the country for the 2019 elections, with 6.57 million. Even throughout the CVR exercise, the state maintained its advantage by having the most completed registrations (585,629). This increased its total voter list to 7.15 million, the largest among the federation’s 36 states.

Sanwo-Olu’s performance in Lagos would inspire Lagosians to vote Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The synergy between the State and the FCT can only be better envisaged if seen with an innovative eye.

Lagos would be super developed with a Lagosian in the person of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu becoming the president , the greatness it would exude would impact on every other state across the federation.
