Bauchi Police Dismantle Syndicate Threatening Kidnapping Over Ransom Payments

According to SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, ANIPR, the command’s spokesperson, the suspects were apprehended on charges including criminal conspiracy, intimidation, threat to life, and attempted kidnapping. Their arrest followed a complaint lodged by a businessman, Yahaya Adamu, who was threatened with abduction if he failed to pay a demanded sum of N5 million.
The police’s persistent efforts in combating kidnapping and related crimes have yielded positive outcomes, as emphasized in the statement released. Utilizing modern investigative techniques, the command swiftly identified and apprehended the suspects, who were located in Birnin Kudu LGA of Jigawa State and Kaltunga via Plateau State.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in various criminal activities, including extorting money from victims through threats of kidnapping. They disclosed previous instances of similar offenses, underscoring their modus operandi and network.
The suspects, identified as Haro Adamu, Aliyu Saidu, and Musa Umaru, will face prosecution for their crimes, with charges including extortion and conspiracy. The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Muhammad Musa psc, commended the swift action of the police operatives and reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents.
