Benue Government Partners With GBB For Major Digital Infrastructure Upgrade In Nigeria

Galaxy Backbone has partnered with the Benue State Government to deepen digital infrastructural transformation in Nigeria.

GBB’s head of Communications, Chidi Okpala in a recent statement said this was the outcome of the visit of the Governor of Benue State, Hycinth Alia at the agency’s headquarters at the weekend.

In his comment, GBB’s Managing Director, Prof Ibrahim Adeyanju said the agency is ready to facilitate state-of-the-art digital infrastructure in Benue state and other states.

He appealed to states across Nigeria to leverage its extensive infrastructure for their digital transformation initiatives.

“We are honored to host His Excellency, the Governor of Benue State, Rev Father Alia, and to showcase our state-of-the-art digital infrastructure. This visit signifies a pivotal step in our partnership with Benue State to drive digital transformation.

“We are committed to providing the technological foundation through our High-Speed Fibre Connectivity currently available in Benue state and close to 30 states of the nation, alongside other digital infrastructure solutions, that enables states to thrive in the digital age,” he said.

On his part, Rev Father Alia expressed his delight at GBB’s Digital Infrastructure.

The Governor said the visit to GBB is a step towards advancing its technological infrastructure development.

“Our visit to the Galaxy Backbone’s Network Operations Centre, Tier III Data Centre, Power Room, and Security Operations Centre is not just a tour; it is a step forward in our commitment to advancing the technological infrastructure of our beloved state.

“The partnership between Benue State Government and Galaxy Backbone Ltd. facilitated through BDIC, marks a new chapter in our state’s ICT development.

“As we move towards digitizing government operations and business activities, this collaboration will play a pivotal role in ensuring that we are equipped with the best technology, security, and operational efficiency”, he said.

“I am impressed by the advanced facilities at Galaxy Backbone and the potential they hold for our state’s digital transformation initiatives and its future.

“Our collaboration with GBB through the Benue Digital Infrastructure Company will pave the way for significant technological advancements in Benue State, enhancing governance and service delivery,” he concluded.

This comes as Nigeria targets 70 percent broadband penetration by 2025. It has achieved 43.7 percent as of December 2023.
