Bindow Is Coming” — VP Kashim Shettima Drops Hint Of Fresh APC Defection Buzz
According to Ireporter Online, the Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, has hinted at the possible return of former Adamawa State Governor, Senator Muhammad Jibrilla Bindow, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Shettima made the indication on Thursday following a private meeting with the former governor, where discussions reportedly centered on politics, security, governance, and other matters of mutual interest.
In a post after the meeting, Shettima wrote: “BINDOW IS COMING! I had fruitful discussions today in my office with my friend, brother and contemporary, Sen. Bindo Umaru Jibrilla, former Governor of Adamawa State, on politics, security, governance and issues of common interest.”
Bindow had left the APC in 2023 after resigning from the party, stating in a letter dated January 20, 2023, that his decision followed what he described as a lack of genuine reconciliation among stakeholders. He also noted that many of his supporters in Adamawa State exited the party alongside him.
He later joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and briefly indicated interest in the 2027 Adamawa governorship race under the party, before withdrawing from the contest after citing personal reasons and deep reflection.
Despite stepping back from the race, Bindow reaffirmed his loyalty to the ADC at the time, pledging continued support for the party’s growth and objectives in Adamawa State and across Nigeria.
However, recent political signals stemming from Shettima’s remarks have fueled speculation that the former governor may be preparing for a return to the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
