Borno Unveils Strategic Framework For Better Project Implementation
The Borno State Government has unveiled a reformed monitoring and evaluation framework aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, and effectiveness in development projects.
The Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Dr Mustapha Malumbe, announced this at a consultative meeting in Maiduguri on Monday, stating that the reform will accelerate the state’s 25-year development plan and 10-year strategic actions.
“The revamped framework will facilitate seamless progress tracking, identify areas for improvement, and inform data-driven decision-making, ensuring better project delivery and sustainable development,” Malumbe explained.
He described the initiative as groundbreaking, noting that it will revolutionise project implementation and tracking in the state, paving the way for sustainable development.
Our correspondent reports that the reform is a collaborative effort between the Borno State Agency for Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Responses, the Ministry of Budget and Planning, the Borno Department of Monitoring and Evaluation, and Borno State University, supported by UNICEF.
The Commissioner added, “With the new M&E framework in place, citizens can expect tangible improvements in project delivery and sustainable development.”
He also stated that resources will be utilised efficiently, and projects will have a lasting impact on citizens’ lives, noting that the future of Borno State looks brighter than ever.
On his part, Director of My IT Consult Limited, Mubaraq Yusuf, said the programme’s objectives include conducting a readiness assessment to strengthen Borno State’s M&E system.
He added that the consultative workshop aimed to present findings, gather stakeholder feedback, and build support for implementation.
Yusuf emphasied that a robust M&E framework is crucial for effective project delivery, enabling performance tracking, coordination between government and development partners, and impact assessment.
