BREAKING: 50 ISWAP Fighters Killed In An Explosion In Nigeria (HOW IT HAPPENED)

Numerous members of an IS-affiliated jihadist group lost their lives in a landmine blast in the Lake Chad region of northeastern Nigeria’s Borno state, as reported by leaders of anti-jihadist militias to AFP on Monday.

On Sunday, two trucks carrying militants associated with the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) detonated upon striking a mine outside Arina Masallaci village in the Marte district.

This information comes from two members of anti-jihadist militias who are supporting the Nigerian military in their efforts against the jihadists.

“The trucks were loaded with the insurgents when the one in the lead hit the mine and exploded along with the second truck trailing closely behind,” Babakura Kolo said.

“Around 50 of the insurgents from both vehicles were killed and others were injured,” Kolo said.

“They (ISWAP) suffered huge casualties in the accident. Their loss is in the region of 50 fighters,” Liman said.

“We believe they planted the landmine sometime ago against troops who periodically patrol the area but they ended up being victims of their evil plot,” Liman said.
