The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed the provisional lists of teams set to participate in the upcoming African Cup of Nations scheduled to take place in Ivory Coast in January.

Among the players making the Super Eagles’ 41-man provisional squad is Captain Ahmed Musa. Notably absent from the list is Maduka Okoye, the goalkeeper from Udinese in Italy, who played for the Nigerian team at the previous AFCON in Cameroon.

Several players who have been absent from the national team for some time have made a return, including William Troost-Ekong, Zaidu Sanusi, and Paul Onuachu. The provisional list, initially consisting of 41 players, will later be reduced to 27 players and submitted by the January 3, 2024, deadline. This addition of four more players than the usual 23 is optional, with CAF clarifying that teams can submit a final squad of between 24 and 27 players. However, only 23 of them will be available for selection for each match during the tournament.

The final tournament is scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024, in various Ivorian cities, including Abidjan, Bouake, Korhogo, San Pedro, and Yamoussoukro.
