BREAKING: Appeal Court Sacks All PDP Lawmakers (WHAT HAPPENED)

On Wednesday, the Court of Appeal in Abuja removed Cornelius Doeyok, who represented Quaanpan South constituency in the Plateau state assembly under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The court’s decision, led by Abdu-azeez Wazi, hinged on the assertion that Doeyok’s party lacked the organizational structure to field any candidate in an election.

This ruling affects all 16 PDP lawmakers, including Doeyok, who have now lost their seats to their All Progressives Congress (APC) counterparts.

In a unanimous decision, the court declared Professor Theodore Bala Maiyaki of the APC as the winner of the March 18 election for the state constituency seat. The panel directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to revoke the certificate of return initially issued to Doeyok and issue a new one to Maiyaki.

As a result, the APC now holds 22 seats in the assembly, with the Labour Party and Young Peoples Party (YPP) each having one representative. This development signifies the removal of all 16 PDP lawmakers from their positions in the house.
