A prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Chief Charles Obule, collapsed and passed away in Sapele Local Government Area of the state.

The late PDP chieftain held a significant role within the party in Delta State and had aspired to be both a governor and senator for the party.

Chief Charles Obule, who was also known as the “Erhi of Okpe Kingdom,” died on Tuesday after a prolonged illness at the age of 65.

Following his demise, the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, expressed his sorrow at the loss of this respected party leader, businessman, politician, and philanthropist. Governor Oborevwhori extended his condolences to the people of Sapele, Okpe Kingdom, and the Urhobo nation, highlighting the late Chief Obule’s popularity and significant contributions to his community.

Governor Oborevwori described the deceased as a gentleman-politician and a versatile lawyer, who excelled in various fields. Chief Obule’s philanthropic endeavors, including the establishment of the Obule Group of Schools and Medical Centre, were particularly praised for their dedication to providing quality education and healthcare at affordable rates to the people of Sapele and the Urhobo nation.

As a grassroots politician and a financial supporter of the PDP, Chief Obule played a vital role in the party’s growth in Sapele Local Government Area and Delta State as a whole. His passing is deeply felt not only by the PDP and the Urhobo nation but also by the entire Delta State.

Governor Oborevwori offered prayers for comfort and strength to the bereaved family and all those whose lives were touched by Chief Charles Obule, wishing for his soul to rest in peace.
