BREAKING: Bruno Slumps, Dies On Football Pitch

Bruno Chigozie Ezeonye, a final-year Computer Science student at the privately-owned Benson Idahosa University (BIU) Benin in Edo State, has slumped while playing football on the institution’s football pitch.

The 21-year-old, who was his parents’ only son, died at BIU’s Legacy Campus.

His father, from Anambra, and mother, from South Africa, are said to be living abroad.

He was rushed to the campus health center but was referred to Faith Mediplex Hospital on Airport Road, Benin, an affiliate of the university, where he was pronounced dead.

Angry students organized a protest after vandalizing the university’s health center and security post, but top university officials prevailed.

BIU’s Head of Communication and Brand Strategy Unit, Temi Esonamunjor, told The Nation: “The university will make an official press statement on the true state of things.”
