[BREAKING] Coup: Former President, 79 Suspects Detained – IG
Following the unsuccessful coup attempt on November 26 in Freetown, Sierra Leone, local police have identified a total of 80 suspects, including former President Ernest Bai Koroma, 50, serving military officers, and five discharged military officers, among others.
William Fayia Sellu, the inspector general of Sierra Leonean police, announced during a press conference on Tuesday that the former president had been granted bail with specific confinement to his residence in Freetown.

Meanwhile, the remaining 79 suspects are currently in custody at the criminal investigations department.

Sellu urged the public to provide valuable information that could lead to the apprehension of the remaining suspects who are still at large.
The November 26 incident involved armed individuals attacking a military barracks, a prison, and other locations in Freetown, resulting in more than 20 casualties. The government later declared it a failed coup.
