BREAKING: Few Days To 2023 Elections, Obi Is Dead

Dr. Alex Obi, a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Imo State and a member of its Board of Trustees, has died.

The deceased, known as IKemba Mbaise, was 68 years old.

According to a statement issued by his family on Tuesday night, signed by his brother, Valentine Obi Snr, and son, Alexander Obi Jnr, he died on Sunday, January 15, 2023, after a brief illness.

Obi was a PDP chieftain, a former board chairman of the National Orthopedic Hospital Igbobi, a member of the Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi, and a member of the National Business and Technical Examination Board, among other things, until his death.

He was the defunct Social Democratic Party’s front-runner in the Imo State governorship race, which he narrowly lost to late Evans Enwerem.

According to the family, Dr. Alex Obi’s body will be laid to rest in his family compound at Oboama Enyiogugu, Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, on Friday, February 17, 2023, following a requiem mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Oboama Enyiogugu.

His wife, Margaret Orishetimeyin Obi, and five children and siblings survive him.
