The Nigerian Naira experienced an increase in value within the Peer-to-Peer (P2P) market as it dropped below the N900 mark on the Binance platform in the early hours of Tuesday.

The price movement observed on the USDT/NGN chart revealed a consistent decrease from N945 to N890 against the US Dollar, prompting speculators to reconsider their positions.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has the option to intervene through official channels. The local currency, the Naira, gained N55 against the US Dollar.

Forex traders attribute this positive change in the Naira’s value to the recent meeting between the President and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) that took place on Monday.

Market participants believe that the appreciation of the Naira was spurred by reports suggesting that the CBN has formulated plans to address the country’s currency crisis and stabilize the exchange rate in the upcoming weeks.

The Governor of the CBN had previously stated the bank’s intention to make significant decisions to counter the Naira’s decline, a move that resulted in substantial losses for speculators.

Acting CBN Governor Folashodun Shonubi shared this proposition during a press conference with reporters after a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the presidential villa in Abuja.

In the physical black market, the Naira saw an increase to around N910 against the US Dollar, marking a rise of more than 40 Naira in just a week.
