BREAKING: Many Appointed Under Buhari’s Government Sacked (WHAT HAPPENED)

Festus Keyamo

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has undertaken a significant overhaul by dismissing 33 directors within his ministry.

Aviation experts have characterized this move as a “clean sweep” and a reversal of the last-minute appointments made by the previous administration of President Muhammadu Buhari under the then-Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika.

The last-minute appointments by Sirika, just a week before the expiration of the Buhari administration on May 23, 2023, included the appointment of 33 directors and the installation of a new managing director for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA). Additionally, he introduced directorates that were previously nonexistent in these agencies.

However, six months later, all of these appointees have been dismissed in an unexpected shake-up. The move took even the affected individuals by surprise. This action occurred shortly after the unanticipated removal of chief executives of aviation agencies, many of whom were reportedly outside the country when the announcements were made. It is noted that several of these executives discovered their dismissal through newspapers or social media, with events taking place abroad, such as the 15th International Civil Aviation Negotiation Event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and the ICAO meeting in Canada.
