BREAKING: More Troubles As Banks Suspend Operations (DETAILS)
To avoid further protester attacks, commercial banks in Abeokuta, Ogun State, refused to open for business on Thursday.
Residents were outraged after a shortage of naira banknotes and a rise in the price of petrol at the pump.
The protests erupted on Tuesday, with shootings and vandalism of public and private property.

One person was shot during an attempted robbery of a First Bank branch in Sapon, even as protesters clashed with police in the area.
On Wednesday, the chaos subsided, allowing many banks to provide bare-bones services.
On Thursday, however, virtually all banks in Abeokuta closed their doors, despite long lines at ATMs.
A bank official who asked that her name not be mentioned for fear of reprimand, said: “We are also going through a lot, even as bankers. We shouldn’t be the target of any protest. As I speak with you now, all of us are in our houses until further notice and that is how it will remain because this sit-at-home order is an indefinite one by our management.
“Even if we are asked to resume at a time that I find not safe, I will rather resign.”
Residents of the state capital are now in a difficult situation because they have no way of getting money.
