BREAKING: Popular Presidential Aspirant Asks Court To Stop PDP Primary (See Why)
A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Cosmas Ndukwe, on Thursday asked the Federal High Court, Abuja, to stop the party’s presidential primary slated for May 28 over an alleged attempt to overturn the zoning arrangement ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Ndukwe, who is a former Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, had in a suit filed by his lawyer, Paul Erokoro (SAN), asked the court to stop the PDP’s presidential primary because the party had refused to zone its ticket to the South East.
However, the PDP counsel, Agu Paul, urged the court to reject the plaintiff’s request.

Justice Donatus Okorowo fixed May 5 for the hearing of the suit.
There were insinuations last month that the major opposition party had jettisoned the zoning arrangement and opted to throw the presidential contest open for all the aspirants to test their strength at the primary.
However, the Chairman of the PDP Zoning Committee, Samuel Ortom , in a chat with journalists at the end of its meeting held on March 24 in Abuja, insisted that the committee has not taken a definite position on the zoning.
He added that the committee would forward its report to the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) at the end of its assignment.
