BREAKING: Powerful Boss Sacked Under Buhari Government Arrested By Tinubu’s Government With Strong Reason
Almost a year after being removed from his position as the Managing Director of the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL), Aliyu Abdlhameed has been arrested, as reported by Daily Trust.
The $500 million non-bank financial institution, established by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to manage agribusiness-related credit risks, saw Abdulhameed dismissed amid corruption allegations, including the mismanagement of a N5.6 billion wheat project in Kano and Jigawa States.

Abdulhameed’s arrest took place after a five-month manhunt by a joint team of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and a Special Investigator appointed by President Bola Tinubu. He was apprehended on the premises of a federal government revenue-generating agency in Abuja, where he reportedly sought reappointment.
Findings by Daily Trust suggest that Abdulhameed is being interrogated on various corruption allegations stemming from his tenure.

The investigation includes a CBN inquiry into allegations of fraud, money laundering, and criminal conspiracy within NIRSAL. The CBN’s interim report highlighted breaches of internal policies, procurement violations, and questionable spending, prompting a request for Abdulhameed’s explanation.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Abdulhameed diverted 32 official vehicles for personal use, with only two vehicles recovered by security operatives. Additionally, he allegedly misappropriated nine exotic vehicles and household items from NIRSAL’s official guest houses in Lagos, Abuja, and Yola.
Efforts to obtain Abdulhameed’s reaction were unsuccessful, and the DSS and the Nigeria Police Force offered no comments on the matter. However, a reliable security source confirmed Abdulhameed’s arrest and current detention.
