BREAKING: Resignation Of Three Cabinet Ministers Rejected

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani rejected the resignation of three cabinet ministers who had stepped down in response to the dismissal of parliament speaker Mohamed al-Halbussi.

The Supreme Court had announced the dismissal of Halbussi last week over accusations of forging a document.

In protest, ministers of culture, industry, and planning, all members of Halbussi’s Taqadom party, submitted their resignations.

However, the prime minister’s office released a statement on Monday, stating that the resignations had been rejected, and the ministers would resume their duties.

The political situation in Iraq involves power-sharing among ethnic and confessional communities. The president is from the Kurdish community, the prime minister is a Shiite Muslim, and the speaker of parliament represents the Sunni Muslim community.
