BREAKING: Tribunal Delivers Ruling On PRP’s NYSC Certificate Forgery Allegation Against Mbah

The Enugu State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by Chris Agu of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) against Peter Mbah. The PRP alleged that Mbah had presented a forged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate, was not qualified, and was involved in corruption.

However, on Thursday, the Tribunal, presided over by Justice Kudirat Murayo Akano, ruled that the petitioner failed to provide evidence that the respondent lacked the minimum requirement to run for election, which is a school certificate or its equivalent.

Justice Akano stated that there was no proof to support the claim that Mbah was not qualified to contest in the election.

Regarding the plea bargain claimed by Mbah, the tribunal noted that the evidence presented by the petitioners did not indicate any plea bargain by the respondent.

The tribunal also emphasized that in order to substantiate the charge of forgery, the petitioner must produce both the original certificate and the alleged forged one.

Furthermore, the panel resolved that Mbah had indeed been elected with the majority of votes, countering the petitioner’s claim.

The panel pointed out that the witnesses presented by the petitioners were unable to specify the polling units where the elections were not conducted or provide the corresponding results.
