BREAKING: Two D**d After Machete-Wielding Man Attacks Lagos Cinema

Two people have been confirmed dead following a violent incident at the IMAX Cinema in Lekki, Lagos State, after a man reportedly armed with a machete and knife gained access to the facility.

According to Ireporter Online, the incident occurred on Friday night, August 29, triggering panic among cinema patrons, employees and other people within the entertainment complex.

Eyewitness accounts indicated that the suspect became aggressive after security personnel reportedly prevented him from gaining entry into the cinema.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Adebisi Abimbola, said the suspect allegedly stabbed one of the security guards to death and injured another during the confrontation.

The police spokesperson added that the suspect was subsequently attacked by a mob and died during the incident, bringing the confirmed death toll to two.

Abimbola said preliminary information suggested that the suspect appeared to be homeless and may have been under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident, while stressing that investigations were ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack.

The police have reportedly taken the cinema’s Chief Security Officer into custody as part of the investigation. Authorities are also working to obtain and examine the facility’s closed-circuit television footage to reconstruct the events leading to the deaths.

Investigators are expected to use the CCTV recordings to determine the sequence of events and establish whether any other individuals were involved.

As of the time of filing this report, the police had not disclosed the identities of the deceased persons or provided further information about the condition of the injured security personnel.
