The captured suspect, identified as Sanusi Dangani from Kano state, was seized less than twelve hours after the arrival of the special forces in the state.

Paraded before reporters at the Fajuyi Pavilion in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, February 8, 2024, Dangani’s arrest marks a significant victory in the battle against kidnapping in the region.

Speaking on the operation, retired Brigadier General Ebenezer Ogundana, Special Adviser to Governor Biodun Oyebanji on Security Matters, disclosed that the swift action followed an intelligence report.

While Dangani was captured, Ogundana revealed that five other suspects managed to evade capture during the gun battle and are currently being pursued by the Nigerian Army.

Promising an unwavering stance against criminal activities, Ogundana emphasized that the state would not tolerate any form of lawlessness.

During the arrest, Dangani was found in possession of an array of weapons and items, including a dane gun, a double-barrel pistol, lighters, torches, bottles of alcoholic drinks, phones, a cutlass, and a knife.

The successful operation highlights the commitment of security forces to combatting crime and restoring peace in Ekiti State.
