Briggs particularly criticized the calls for the removal of Gen. Barry Ndiomu, the current Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP). She argued that constant changes in leadership disrupt the continuity of reforms and urged stakeholders to support Ndiomu’s efforts to implement positive changes in the program.

Reflecting on the progress of the amnesty program, Briggs acknowledged its role in creating an enabling environment for dialogue between the government and agitators in the region. However, she highlighted the need for sustained efforts to address the socio-economic challenges faced by the youth, including education, employment, and infrastructure development.

Addressing concerns about ethnic tensions within the region, Briggs emphasized the significant contributions of the Ijaw ethnic group to the struggle for justice and equity in the Niger Delta. She rejected claims of preferential treatment for the Ijaw community, emphasizing the need for collaboration among all ethnic groups for the collective development of the region.
