Speaking at the Youth Action Event in Abuja on Friday, CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso, represented by Deputy Governor for Economic Policy, Muhammad Abdullahi, emphasized the bank’s commitment to equipping young people with financial tools necessary for success.

He highlighted that CBN policies will prioritize youth entrepreneurship and innovation, particularly in high-growth sectors such as the green economy and digital transformation.

“We will leverage our economic policies to create opportunities for young people to excel as entrepreneurs, innovators, and key contributors to economic development. Youth-friendly credit initiatives and capacity-building programs will be expanded to empower them, especially in emerging sectors,” Cardoso stated.

He stressed that Nigerian youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow but active participants in shaping today’s economic policies and transformations.

Cardoso also reaffirmed the CBN’s focus on financial inclusion, ensuring that young Nigerians and underserved communities gain access to financial services that support their aspirations.

Additionally, he emphasized the bank’s efforts to strengthen partnerships with civil society, international organizations, and the private sector to amplify youth-led solutions, drive job creation, and promote innovation on both national and global scales.

“Collaboration is key to enhancing economic policies that cater to young people and creating an environment conducive to sustainable development,” he added.

The governor underscored the importance of integrating youth perspectives into policy-making, stating that the CBN is committed to establishing platforms that allow young Nigerians to actively engage in economic decision-making.

Describing the Youth Action Event as more than just a discussion platform, Cardoso called on participants to take concrete steps toward implementing ideas into measurable outcomes.

Vice President of the Joint Consultative Council of the CBN, Jamilu Ado, echoed this sentiment, describing the summit as a crucial step in advancing the objectives outlined in the Pact for the Future. He emphasized the need for collaboration to unlock the potential of young Nigerians and drive meaningful change.

The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing youth welfare and economic empowerment in the country.
