The initiative comes amidst growing concerns over the proliferation of contaminated Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) in various filling stations across Niger State, posing significant risks to unsuspecting consumers.

Commandant Joachin Okafor of the NSCDC has made it clear that those found guilty of selling adulterated fuel will face swift and decisive action, including prosecution. Speaking during a meeting with the state Commissioner for Communication Technology and Digital Economy, Suleiman Isah, Okafor reiterated the commitment of the NSCDC to combatting this illegal practice.

Okafor emphasized the importance of holding offenders accountable to deter others from engaging in similar activities. He stressed that the NSCDC will spare no effort in identifying and prosecuting distributors involved in the sale of contaminated fuel, thereby safeguarding the interests of the public.

The crackdown follows laboratory tests conducted by the Department of Petroleum Resources, confirming the adulteration of fuel sold at various filling stations in the state. This confirmation has prompted intensified efforts by the NSCDC to root out offenders and ensure compliance with quality standards in the fuel distribution sector.
