Crackdown In FCT: Police Storm Criminal Hideouts, Seize Weapons, Arrest 245 Suspects

According to a statement from the command, the raids, which took place between February 6 and 23, 2025, were intelligence-driven and targeted high-crime areas, abandoned buildings, and known drug dens.

The police revealed that the operation covered crime-prone areas such as Kurudu, Dutse Alhaji, Kubwa, Wuye, Galadimawa, Iddo, Kuje, Apo, Zuba, Asokoro, Karshi, Karu, and Byazhin, among others.

As a result, 245 individuals were taken into custody, with authorities conducting thorough profiling and screening. Those found guilty of criminal offenses will face prosecution.

Recovered items include:

• A large stash of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana
• Three axes and three machetes, often linked to violent crimes
• Six small tubes of glue and five handmade bongs used for substance abuse
• Eight pairs of scissors, five ID cards, and multiple small transparent plastic containers filled with suspected illicit substances

The command also intensified surveillance on uncompleted and abandoned buildings, which have become hotspots for drug-related activities and organized crime. Intelligence reports suggest that criminals use these structures for illicit dealings.

Property owners have been advised to secure their buildings to prevent misuse, while relevant government agencies have been urged to take necessary actions to curb the growing threat.
